Social prisoner Giorgos Inglessis has been on hunger strike since 3rd of March – 25.03.2015

On March 25th, it became known that social prisoner Giorgos Inglessis has been on a hunger strike since March 3rd in support of all the demands of political prisoners who are on hunger strike since March 2nd. As far as supporters know, he has lost 12 kilos, he’s experiencing dizziness and has a low-grade fever. Yesterday, March 24th, the prison administration tried to move him to a hospital, he refused to be transferred, and they “warned” him that, if he doesn’t stop the hunger strike, they will force-feed him by the decision of a prosecutor.

Below is the prisoner’s open letter from Tiryntha prison:

My name is Giorgos Inglessis, I am 35 years old and held in Tiryntha closed rural prison, sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for theft.

Even though I am counted among the common law prisoners, I have supported anarchist ideas and deeds for years, so the struggle launched by dozens of political prisoners since March 2nd could not have left me indifferent and aloof. I hereby report that I also participate in the hunger strike since March 3rd, in support of all the demands of political prisoners:

Abolition of articles 187 and 187A (terror law), abolition of the aggravating provision regarding acts committed with concealed physical characteristics (“hoodie law”), abolition of type C prisons, immediate release of Savvas Xiros to enable him to receive needed medical treatment, abolition of forcible taking of DNA samples, access to DNA samples for analysis by a biology expert witness trusted by the accused, abolition of analysis of DNA samples that contain a mixture of genetic material from more than two individuals, immediate release of the relatives of CCF members.

We don’t beg, we don’t kneel down, we put forward demands and we win.
Strength to all the hunger strikers.

Giorgos Inglessis
Tiryntha closed rural prison.
